The Unitologists have dismantled EarthGov (which itself was wholly dedicated to Marker Research), the Lunar Colony was sabotaged and purposefully infected with a Necromorph outbreak by Danik (which 100% spiraled into a Convergence Event), Every other colony that was even remotely connected to a Marker Site was, again, purposefully infected by the Unitologists. 'But wait!' I hear you cry, 'We don't know if the moons around Earth are actually real!' But every evidence we have points to Awakening being it, the final chapter. Did it succeed? Arguably, but certainly not to the extent that these advanced Aliens would have wanted. We've also seen a literal Alien Species, in the middle of a Necromorph Doomsday, build and activate a machine who's sole goal was to stop the Convergence Event. These are beings whose miniscule offshoots (The Markers) can influence how an entire species evolves it's needs, transform dead flesh into Necromorphs, generate murderous and suicidal thoughts and actions in free-willed individuals, and can generate limitless energy (notice the term Energy, not specifically electricity or anything that we know of.) These are being who can theoretically go dormant for tens of millions of years, waiting for literal Evolution to happen so that they can feed and reproduce. We've seen 7 intact (visions from the Awakened DLC), 1 partially frozen, and 1 destroyed before Convergence (Dead Space 2 ending).
